WHY CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION IS A GAME CHANGER

What does it look like to get a professional career and technical education at your school or in your district? Students in middle school and high school may greatly benefit from participation in career and technical education, sometimes known as CTE. Career-technical education programs provide students the opportunity to get hands-on experience and teach them practical skills they may use in a variety of settings.

I have a few different materials from Sphero that I would like to share with you today on the blog. Students in middle school and high school may learn mechanical engineering ideas that they can use in a variety of settings with the aid of Sphero Blueprint Build.

WHY CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION IS A GAME CHANGER

Since I was a child, Sphero has always been one of my favorite brands. They provide several exciting alternatives for instructors and kids to choose from, ranging from the round robots Sphero Mini and BOLT to the Sphero RVR+. Therefore, when they came out to offer the Sphero Blueprint Build this year, I was quite thrilled to learn more about it.

One of the reasons why vocational career and technical education (CTE) is so fascinating, and one of the reasons why I am happy that Sphero is in this sector, is that it gives students a wide variety of different experiences. The advantages are enormous, ranging from early career exploration, in which students may try their hands at a variety of professions, to the provision of a stepping stone that can lead to higher academic endeavors. Students participating in a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program have the opportunity to get practical experience with several mechanical engineering ideas via the use of Sphero Blueprint Build.

WHY CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION IS A GAME CHANGER

If you haven’t seen Blueprint Build in action yet, the video below gives you a taste of what is possible. Blueprint Build is a modular system of easy-to-handle mechanical engineering parts. Designed for middle and high school students, it can teach diverse, scalable, and creative engineering concepts.

How exactly does it function? Students construct a building by assembling a structure out of modular sections and snapping them together. The fact that the parts can be taken apart so easily and quickly makes assembly and disassembly a breeze. Students have the opportunity to construct constructions that curve, twist, and slide, as well as investigate gears and pulleys, while using Blueprint Build.

Blueprint Build’s intuitive interface makes it an ideal tool for use in career and technical education settings that include fast prototyping. Students have the opportunity to take part in construction projects that they can finish in a single session of instructional time. During the course of the design process, they are able to construct a wide variety of prototypes that are simple to reposition and modify by making use of screws and rope clamps.

CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION RESOURCES

Regular visitors to this site are aware that I am always on the lookout for new approaches to assist educators in reducing their time commitments. The use of Blueprint Build in the classroom helps instructors save precious time, especially when it comes to preparing their supporting materials. Teachers have access to tools that may assist them in making the most of Blueprint Build in a classroom context. This is in addition to the fact that they can save time by quickly and easily assembling and disassembling the components, as I indicated before.

Ready-to-Use CTE Resources

WHY CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION IS A GAME CHANGER

You get access to an educator guidebook when you use Blueprint Build. This book contains standards-aligned content that is associated with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and the Standards for Technological and Engineering Literacy (STEL). You will also get challenge cards to use with students that may assist them in becoming acquainted with the engineering design process. You and the students can both try out these cards. In addition, there is CAD Support available for educators, which provides access to free On-Shape papers as well as Solid Works and STEP files for the purpose of supporting CAD curricula.

Within the materials provided by Blueprint Build, there are three distinct tiers of instructional organization. You have the option of beginning with Level One (Foundation), then progressing to Level Two (Exploration), and lastly, Level Three (Creation). On this page, you will discover several examples of lessons, such as “Introducing the Pulley” and “Inclined Planes and the Egyptian Pyramids.”
